Welcome our new models – Tina & Kasi. A coral and purple photoshoot.

We had an overwhelming amount of amazing entries for our model search late last year. We had a little help with the judging process, and Tina and Kasi were chosen. We worked with an amazing team of wedding specialists and put together a beautiful photoshoot in Spring 2017. This is our first to feature both Tina and Kasi as well as our beautiful model Georgina from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust.

As I spoke with both Tina and Kasi and got to know them a little better, I asked them what their favourite colours were, and both of them said black! But that they also loved coral (Tina) and purple (Kasi), so these were the colours we chose for the flowers at our shoot. Hannah, the florist behind Strizz, created three incredible wedding bouquets, one that combined the two colours, with lots of ribbons.

We had a brilliant team of wedding specialists on our shoot, and together we created something really beautiful. We were so grateful that it has been shared on the wedding blog – And So To Wed.

Our Bride Helen

happy-couple

Helen & Justin got married at Shenley Cricket Club and today we are sharing these amazing photographs by Lucie Watson Photography. Helen visited Edith & Winston Bridalwear and she had a clear idea in her mind. She wanted to be able to join in for a bit of cricket. So the Ivory & Co gown ‘Snow Lotus’ was the perfect choice for her. We adore Helen’s colourful wedding day and these beautiful images.

Helen said that there was so many reason why she chose Hattie and Flora, and we can see why. They not only created her beautiful bouquets but also her amazing book arch. With a mix of Lady Vintage and Lindy Bop dresses, each bridesmaid had a matching mini bow from Crown and Glory to match Helen’s in colours that matched their dresses. Helen chose Lauren Taylor Hair and Make Up for on her special day.

Why we love our designer Callista

Advert Image low res

When we fist opened, it took me a long time to narrow down which designers we wanted to stock. I knew that I wanted a Plus Size specialist designer and Callista was often mentioned on wedding forums and on bridal websites. We wanted a modern designer who would stand alongside my other designers, without looking out of place or old fashioned. Every year Callista impress me more and more with their new collections and incredible structure.

Plus Size Callista

Callista were so super kind and they nominated Edith & Winston Bridalwear as their ‘Shop of the Month’ for March and also asked me to work with them on a blog post. We really do love our Callista dresses — I am not saying that to try and get you to buy one of their designs! I say it because I mean it. Just yesterday I met with designer Michele and my amazing rep Michael to look at the new collection. I am excited to say that we have just placed an order for three new gowns, arriving in the summer. We also have a photoshoot in just over two weeks time, so we can photograph some of our new gowns for you to see on our own model Georgina.

shop of the week

Why should you consider picking a Callista Bridal gown:

  • Their collection is designed especially for Plus Size brides
  • They are designed to fit and support, with boning and structure in all the right places
  • They have elegant silhouettes that are perfect for the fuller figure
  • Their beautiful collections have been designed around the modern bride

The wonderful team who styled our shoot really pulled out all the stops to bring you one of the most beautiful styled shoots. And the only thing that could make it any better is that it was a Plus Size bridal shoot! Keep a look out for the images on social media soon.

Finding Plus Size bridal advice.

Finding information about being a Plus Size bride hasn’t always been easy. But this year we have been really lucky that multiple outlets have asked us for bridal advice.

Find Your Dream Dress

Find Your Dream Dress asked for our ‘Best dress shopping tips for curvy brides’. We work with Find Your Dream Dress and are listed in their directory. So they asked us some questions.

find your dream dress

What they said:

“Wedding dress shopping as a fuller-figured bride can be tricky – which is why the lovely Rebecca opened her Plus Size bridal boutique Edith & Winston back in 2014! We catch up with her to get best dress shopping tips for curvy brides…”

What can a bride expect when she books an appointment at Edith & Winston?

Brides can email or call me before their first appointment. Often, with the reservations that a plus size bride can have, they have lots of questions. Brides can contact me and ask me anything and hopefully I can help reassure them that it’s going to be really fun time. We always give brides a two-hour appointment, so it gives you enough time to feel settled before you start trying on.

She Might Be

She Might Be Magazine

When Georgina Grogan told me about her new venture – ‘She Might Be’ I really hoped that we could be a part somehow. It’s really important for brides to understand the time frames that are needed for ordering your wedding dress. The wonderful team behind She Might Be allowed me the opportunity to write what I wanted to and I loved having the chance. Here’s a little snippet to read more please click on the link: http://shemightbe.co.uk/wedding-dress-shopping-scary-i/

‘Do not be put off having the experience of wedding dress shopping because of the number on the label. It’s just a number and it’s not worth putting yourself through unnecessary stress. Wedding dress shopping is fun, there are so many great designers and boutiques out there now that cater to you. We have met so many nervous brides, we have them in all shapes and size gowns, and we have a laugh and a giggle. Not every dress is going to suit you, you may refer to yourself as a sausage in one, but the next will make you feel like a princess. With the boning in the right places and the perfect fit, you will feel amazing on your wedding day. Even if you don’t find your dress with me, I want you to enjoy your appointment.’

LifeSize

Lifesize magazine reached out to me and wanted me to help them with their latest piece – helping Plus Size brides find their wedding dress. They spoke to myself and also Lori Conley, Divisional Merchandise Manager for Bridal and Flower Girl for David’s Bridal.  It was nice to be referred to as a bridal specialist and answering their questions.

Our Bride – Nicola

Our Bride blog plus size

Our bride Nicola married Simon at the Belle Epoque in Knutsford, Cheshire in November last year. She wore a lace fit & flare gown by Callista Bridal with bespoke straps and cap sleeves in matching lace. We first met Nicola many months before, when one day she was passing our shop and the dress in the window caught her eye. The dress on the mannequin was called ‘Zurich’. Nicola had an idea of what style of dress she wanted for her special day, and the dress on the mannequin turned out to be ‘the one’. We ordered enough matching lace, and added a corset back in replacement of the zip. Nicola also had a bespoke satin edged veil by Joyce Jackson.

Our Bride Nicola1

Nicola already had purples and plums in her mind before she even found her venue and it worked perfectly within the Belle Epoque. There really wasn’t any other florist for her than Knutsford Bloom, and the best of all — they are just over the road from the venue!

Nicola said that the Belle Epoque was already so perfectly decorated, but even more excitingly, the Christmas decoration would be up and doesn’t it look absolutely beautiful. The large tree stood in the window in front of the dance floor and a large wreath ran up the stair case. We were so kindly invited to the evening, to see Nicola in her dress and the venue in all it’s glory.

This beautiful cake was created by Mrs B’s Queens of Cakes and the flowers came from Knutsford Bloom.

I absolutely fell in love with Nicola’s photographers and their style. The Belle Epoque is a hard venue to photograph as it can be dark in areas and Rustic Lovebirds really captured her day so beautifully.

Our Bride Kathryn

plus-size-boutique-kathryn-front-cover

Our beautiful bride Kathryn was married in the summer last year at Manchester Town Hall. She wore the beautiful lace Callista Bridal Gown Santorini. The dress had lovely lace straps but Kathryn added bespoke cap sleeves. Her veil was by Rainbow Club and her headband was from Ivory & Co.

We loved working with Kathryn on her dream dress and her appointments were so much fun. I was so happy when her photographs popped up in my email. Thank you so much for sharing your special day with us.

Our new Ronald Joyce & Victoria Jane dresses – Arriving Soon

halle-blog-1The new year has arrived, and with it the fast-approaching arrival of the new Ronald Joyce & Victoria Jane wedding dresses. Over the next few weeks our new gowns will be arriving ready for all our new year bridal appointments. With a mixture of the new seasons designs and a couple of their best sellers – all arriving in sizes 18+.

Why do we love Ronald Joyce?

Looking for a non-plus-size designer who can cater to and design dresses that work on a fuller figure is hard.

The questions we have to ask ourselves – Have they been sized up correctly? Is there enough structure in the bodice? Will our brides like the styles and fabrics this designer uses?

The answer is YES! This is why we love Ronald Joyce. Our brides find the gowns as structured and flattering as our specialist Plus Size designer. The collection is available in sizes 8 – 30 and we have sold to brides of all sizes above an 18. With beautiful lace and classic shapes, these are modern gowns that are available to a fuller figured bride.

We can’t wait for them to all arrive – so here is a sneak peek of what is coming.
