Here’s to a fabulous 2019 and our yearly round up!

They say time flies when you are having fun and for me 2018 has passed in a heartbeat. Ten months ago my beautiful baby daughter was born and our lives would never be the same again.

I want to start my yearly round up by thanking all the wonderful brides who visited and found their wedding dress with us at Edith & Winston Bridalwear. We appreciate your support and also that you didn’t mind me bringing along my newborn daughter. I didn’t want to put her straight into childcare when she could come and be part of my world here at the boutique. So thank you. Now she is getting bigger, and we will be looking at fresh options in the new year. Especially after we found her hanging out her chair, throwing around some paper and an old veil that she had found in a box, behind the mirror. It may mean that we are not available on certains day in the new year but available child-free on others! I will keep you updated.

I am going to share with you some of the incredible real weddings that we had featured over on Something New. I love seeing and sharing all your real weddings so please do keep sending them in to me!

We also had a very special wedding of our own here at Edith & Winston Bridalwear! My little sister Cat got married in October and she looked incredible in her two (Yes Two!) Edith & Winston wedding dresses. The first by Ivory and Co and the second a Ronald Joyce turned into a tea-length by Boutique Alterations. When we first opened our boutique my sister came with me to Ivory & Co and helped me choose the collection. On meeting Sarah the designer, Cat knew she wanted to wear one of her designs when she got married. She was married at The Wellbeing Farm and had her photographs done by the incredibly talented Teresa C Photography.

We had our beautiful photoshoot shared over at Something New and you can use this link to see the images. But here are some of the ones that I took on the day. It was my first time taking photographs on the shoot and I am hoping to take more myself next year on our photoshoots! Which is totally scary but exciting all at the same time. I have been on two amazing photography courses this year at Click Love Grow, which I highly recommend to anyone starting out with their camera. I have been so inspired over the past few years with our shoots and I wanted to get involved myself. I hope you like them!

So with 2018 coming to a close what can you expect from Edith & Winston Bridalwear?

More photoshoots!! We are currently in the process of organising our first shoot of the year! I haven’t been able to do any other shoots this year with juggling Lenox, baby groups, brides and my photography course, but thats all going to change in 2019 and I will be back with an epic collaboration. So watch this space!

Our first ever sample sale will be happening in the new year as well as an accessories sale which will happen online! Did I hear you say  ”Ooooh?” Big reductions and bargains to be had! So that will be exciting.

We will also no longer be opening on Sundays – unless it is in replacement of a Saturday. Advanced warning of these appointments will be posted on Facebook. But we will not be generally opening Sundays going into 2019. This year we have had a lot of no-shows which has been really upsetting. So please if you can’t make your appointment, I don’t bite! Send me an email or please let me know by calling. It helps me so much and I do understand.

There will also probably be more baby photographs because, well I just love showing off my beautiful little girl to you all. This year she has been photographed by Velvet D’Amour  which was so exciting and very special. Here is one of my favourites by Vanessa Louise.

I would like to wish you all a wonderful last few days of 2018 and here is to a brilliant 2019!

All my love,

2018 At The Plus Size Bridal Boutique.

So, it is nearly the end of May already. Almost three months have passed since my beautiful daughter Lenox was born. I closed up the boutique on Sunday 18th February at 5pm after fitting in as many brides as I could before going into hospital on Tuesday 20th! I would say that is dedication. I sat in my hospital bed emailing orders to Callista and Ronald Joyce and then finally on Friday 23rd February the newest member of the Edith & Winston Bridalwear team arrived! Lenox has been working in the boutique since she was 2 weeks old and I am grateful to all of you, that you haven’t minded me bringing her along. I can’t complain as she is good as gold, but as we are by appointment it means I can spend my time with her, and with you all.

Janet has been incredible over the past 10 months, so I nominated her for the Bridal Buyers Best Seller of the month award. The Bridal Buyer is a monthly magazine for boutiques and designers and I was so pleased that she was chosen. I couldn’t have done it without her!

We have had a lovely new collection arrive from White Rose Graceful. This Plus Size Designer really does have a stunning selection for you all and we are really pleased with the quality and structure that these dresses have.

We would like to congratulate Callista’s head designer Michele who recently bought the company, making it a fully UK owned company. We look forward to seeing what the future brings as we love our Callista gowns!

We also have a new selection of hair accesories and tiaras from Ivory and Co, including both gold and rose gold pieces.

A few weeks ago Plus Size bloggers Hayley (Curves And Curls UK) and Georgina (our beautiful model – Fuller Figure Fuller Bust) invited us to be a part of their photoshoot weekender! We took along a variety of gowns from all of our designers. Hayley had put together a brilliant shoot with four models, that also included Yazmin and Tina (who you will have all seen at our previous photoshoots). It was a beautiful day at Sugnall Hall and Emma from Luna Photography captured the day perfectly. Here are the sneak peeks from the day.

Georgina is wearing our new Ronald Joyce satin gown.

Yazmin is wearing the Ivory/Light Gold version of this Sonsie gown.

Hayley is modelling our new chiffon, A-line gown by Callista.

Tina is wearing our sparkly new gown by Ronald Joyce.

Please remember that we need a 5-6 month lead time for your wedding dress to be made and then arrive from our designers. On top of that you will then need to allow for alterations. We don’t have our own seamstress here at Edith & Winston Bridalwear. You are always most welcome to find your own seamstress. But if you would like to use one that we recommend, often they require 8-10 weeks to fit you in. So ideally you need to begin your wedding dress search 10-12 months ahead. If you have less than 6 months until your big day, don’t worry — we have a few designers who offer quicker deliveries, as well as the option of purchasing a gown from our sample rail.

We also would like to wish our beautiful model Georgina a very happy 30th birthday! She kindly invited us along with all her friends and family to Croatia. We had a wonderful time. Thank you for all your hard work over the past 3 years but also for being a lovely friend. Time to organise our next photoshoot!

We have just returned and we reopen this Saturday for those brides booked in. We have limited Saturdays available over the summer. So please do get in touch and book your appointment. Our beautiful green and yellow Sandhole Oak Barn photoshoot was featured in April’s Love Our Wedding magazine, with stunning images by Becky at Storyteller Photography. I loved working on this shoot and I’m so happy to see it being featured.

Last, but not least we have had our beautiful bride Katie featured on the Plus Size bridal blog – Something New! She wore Callista Bride’s gown Cezanne to her Scottish beach wedding last year. Please do click on this link, and look at her stunning images. Well, that’s what has been happening here at Edith & Winston Bridalwear since I last updated the blog. Thank you for taking the time to read and look at all these beautiful pictures. To keep up to date with everything E&W and all of our Plus Size Inspiration, follow our Instagram page.

Edith & Winston Heading Into 2018!

Wow, where did 2017 go? I feel terrible that I haven’t updated my blog for quite some time. My laptop broke and I couldn’t remember how to get access to the website! But I am back and I thought I would give you a little round up of the end of Edith & Winston’s year and to new beginnings!

I really should start with the biggest news here at Edith & Winston Bridalwear… We have gone by appointment only! Ok, that isn’t really the biggest news, but it’s a result of what many of you will already know — we will be welcoming the newest member of the E&W team in around 6 weeks time! I am having my first baby at the start of March and so after 8 weeks of morning sickness, I decided it was easier to go by appointment. And you know what? I really like it, as I feel like we can give even more of our time to you all. The next few months are a little bit more unusual, I am still here for now! But Janet will be taking over soon and so we have slightly fewer appointments than we used to. But I will be back and bringing Baby Lord-Lyon with me!

Just last weekend we had a family/maternity photoshoot! It was so much fun. I don’t really like having my photograph taken but Hazel and Ailsa are the most amazing and professional photographers. We have worked with Firinn Photography a few times — when we went to Blackpool in 2016 and last year with the flower wall at the Isla Gladstone. I am so glad that I asked them to take our photographs as it felt so natural and it wasn’t half as scary as I had imagined. I can’t recommend them enough for your wedding day, or any important moment you wish to capture!

We ended 2017 with our first wedding award! I didn’t even go to the ceremony as I was full of a cold, and I really didn’t expect to win!  Janet went and had a really lovely evening at the English Wedding Awards.

We worked on some of my favourite photoshoots last year and the final one could possibly be my favourite yet! Possibly because Georgina had green hair and I just loved it! But we had a beautiful setting, beautiful dresses and wonderful suppliers. The images were blogged by And So To Wed and keep an eye out for our feature in a wedding magazine in 2018!

We absolutely love working with Georgina and Tina! So we can’t wait to get back to shooting once Baby LL has arrived!

Somwthing New started with a bang! We featured brides from all over the world as well as three of our own! Click on the picture to read all about their real weddings and real engagement stories! We would love to have you all submit to Something New this year!!

We also took on two new designers, Sonsie and a new Plus Size specialist arriving in 2018! Here is a few pictures of gowns arriving this year from our amazing designers.

We also worked with Little White Books, Kerry Baker MUA, Love Lights The Way, Carly’s Creations and our good friend Teresa C Photography! A blog post will follow soon but here is a sneak peek.

So that’s our round up of 2017. Another fabulous year of brides, Plus Size inspiration and shoots! We really can’t wait to see what 2018 brings as we go into our fourth year! Obviously there will be lots of baby spam when she finally arrives, as well as photoshoots and collaborations! I have plans to work with a Plus Size specialist of bridesmaid dresses on a shoot. It’s so important to me that I can give you, my brides all the information that I can. ‘Where can I find Plus Size bridesmaid gowns?’ is something that I get asked all the time! As well as specialist underwear (something else we plan to blog for you this year). Our new designer will be arriving soon and I can’t wait! I have wanted this Plus Size specialist since the beginning and finally we will be a stockist in 2018.

Thank you for reading through my blog, I know it was a lengthy one!

All my love

A little bit of what’s been happening at Edith & Winston this Summer.

I love working in the boutique and meeting so many wonderful brides. I love working on my photoshoots with the most talented wedding specialists. And I really love, love, love social media! I love bringing you Plus Size bridal inspiration and writing my blog posts on my website and for other wedding websites.

So naturally my love for all things bridal… turned into Something New – A Blog For The Plus Size Bride. In July we featured our first real brides, including Amy, who wore one of our beautiful Callista gowns. Something New is just starting. I hope to feature so many more real brides, photoshoots and inspiration from bridal boutiques across the country.

We got off to a great start. I was asked to visit Callista and help with their new 2018 photoshoot! This was the very first one to take place here in their UK offices. We had a great day, and I can’t wait for the images to be shared with you next week.

We have also received our new dresses from our brand new Plus Size designer – Sonsie! We looked at many different specialist Plus Size designers who we thought would fit within our boutique and suit the needs of our brides. In the end, Sonsie really stood out to us for not only the structure that comes with one of their gowns, but also their amazing customer service. The dresses arrived about a month ago and we have had a good response from our brides, as they are a little bit different to what we already have in store. And so we hope that by having a bigger range we can help more brides than ever fall in love with their dream dress.

Recently, we went on a photoshoot with some of our favourite Ronald Joyce dresses as well as our new Sonsie gowns. It was a great day and Debbie McGregor did an incredible job with the photographs. We also love the amazing wedding suppliers on the shoot. For more information and pictures please click on this link.

But going back to my love of social media! Well, we went a little bit quiet in July. I just couldn’t face writing on the laptop and I even went a little bit quiet in the shop. But we have a good reason! We had the biggest surprise in June when we found out that I am having a baby. I made it to the end of week 6 and then came the morning sickness which has really knocked me around. Because of everything, I’ve decided to make the boutique by appointment going forward until I am feeling better.

We hope to see many new brides over the next few months, as well as those collecting their wedding dresses! Please follow Something New on Facebook and Instagram.

Love Becca xx

Welcome our new models – Tina & Kasi. A coral and purple photoshoot.

We had an overwhelming amount of amazing entries for our model search late last year. We had a little help with the judging process, and Tina and Kasi were chosen. We worked with an amazing team of wedding specialists and put together a beautiful photoshoot in Spring 2017. This is our first to feature both Tina and Kasi as well as our beautiful model Georgina from Fuller Figure Fuller Bust.

As I spoke with both Tina and Kasi and got to know them a little better, I asked them what their favourite colours were, and both of them said black! But that they also loved coral (Tina) and purple (Kasi), so these were the colours we chose for the flowers at our shoot. Hannah, the florist behind Strizz, created three incredible wedding bouquets, one that combined the two colours, with lots of ribbons.

We had a brilliant team of wedding specialists on our shoot, and together we created something really beautiful. We were so grateful that it has been shared on the wedding blog – And So To Wed.

Make Up & Hair – Ruby Slippers MUA.

Flower Wall – Qube Events

Wedding Cake – Bloomsbury Cakes

A Rose Gold Collaboration

One of the hardest things about working on a collaborative photoshoot is the waiting. Waiting for the day when we can show off the beautiful images.

This week our shoot was featured on the amazing wedding blog ‘Brides Up North’. We are so happy that our Plus Size photoshoot was featured on such a brilliant wedding blog. The team behind this collaboration really understood my vision for my rose gold shoot, which featured our new Ronald Joyce gowns. I have added a few images to this blog post below. To see the full set of images please visit their blog:

We have another collaborative shoot for you – coming soon! And we have plenty more lined up for over the summer months. If you have any ideas about what you would like to see, please get in touch and send us an email.

Our Bride Emily

our bride emilyEmily and Mike were married in January at All Saints Church in Thelwall, with her reception taking place at Statham Lodge.

Emily chose ‘Robyn’ by Ronald Joyce in Ivory for on her special day. With a bespoke pearl veil by Joyce Jackson.

Mike’s Suit was from Groom in Warrington.

Hair & Make Up by Belle Fille.

Emily’s bouquet was from Molly Blooms in Penketh.

Our Bride Helen

Helen & Justin got married at Shenley Cricket Club and today we are sharing these amazing photographs by Lucie Watson Photography. Helen visited Edith & Winston Bridalwear and she had a clear idea in her mind. She wanted to be able to join in for a bit of cricket. So the Ivory & Co gown ‘Snow Lotus’ was the perfect choice for her. We adore Helen’s colourful wedding day and these beautiful images.

Helen said that there was so many reason why she chose Hattie and Flora, and we can see why. They not only created her beautiful bouquets but also her amazing book arch. With a mix of Lady Vintage and Lindy Bop dresses, each bridesmaid had a matching mini bow from Crown and Glory to match Helen’s in colours that matched their dresses. Helen chose Lauren Taylor Hair and Make Up for on her special day.

Why we love our designer Callista

Advert Image low res

When we fist opened, it took me a long time to narrow down which designers we wanted to stock. I knew that I wanted a Plus Size specialist designer and Callista was often mentioned on wedding forums and on bridal websites. We wanted a modern designer who would stand alongside my other designers, without looking out of place or old fashioned. Every year Callista impress me more and more with their new collections and incredible structure.

Plus Size Callista

Callista were so super kind and they nominated Edith & Winston Bridalwear as their ‘Shop of the Month’ for March and also asked me to work with them on a blog post. We really do love our Callista dresses — I am not saying that to try and get you to buy one of their designs! I say it because I mean it. Just yesterday I met with designer Michele and my amazing rep Michael to look at the new collection. I am excited to say that we have just placed an order for three new gowns, arriving in the summer. We also have a photoshoot in just over two weeks time, so we can photograph some of our new gowns for you to see on our own model Georgina.

shop of the week

Why should you consider picking a Callista Bridal gown:

  • Their collection is designed especially for Plus Size brides
  • They are designed to fit and support, with boning and structure in all the right places
  • They have elegant silhouettes that are perfect for the fuller figure
  • Their beautiful collections have been designed around the modern bride
